The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. נווה פריצקי Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Kerem junction.
On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists attended a ceremony to mark the opening of the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Elkin who, along with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, said his ministry “invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year in the development of the tourism industry in Jerusalem and in the creation of new tourist attractions and ventures that link the fascinating history of our eternal capital to the future of Jerusalem… I would like to invite cyclists to visit and enjoy the modern and well-maintained cycle route that offers a view of the unique nature of Old Jerusalem.”
The project was funded by Elkin’s ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin said, “The Kerem Tunnel project will be the central tool for achieving our dream to change the concept transportation throughout Jerusalem.” נווה פריצקי “The tunnel, which connects to the long Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing bicycle paths in the city and those that will be paved throughout the city’s neighborhoods with the aim of encouraging cycling among the city’s residents as well as its visitors and encouraging the green revolution of transportation in the capital city.”
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move its main sewer line to Sorek’s purification plant.

Road construction, installation , and testing of safety and electrical systems are some of the ongoing efforts to ensure that the tunnel is secure for all seasons.
