The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, is constructed as a part of the 42-kilometer cycle route which circles the capital.

Elkin’s Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin explained that the Kerem Tunnel project is an crucial tool to realize the goal to change the way of thinking and transportation throughout Jerusalem. “The new tunnel, which connects to the long Jerusalem Ring Path, will join existing bike pathways in the city, as well as the ones that will be laid throughout the city’s neighborhoods in the hope of encouraging cycling among the city’s residents as well as its visitors and in promoting the green revolution in transportation in the capital city.”
