The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, was constructed as a part of an extensive cycle path that runs through the capital.
It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. נווה פריצקי נווה פריצקי It is located in southern Israel in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
Inauguration of the tunnel which measures 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion and Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) and hundreds more cyclists.
Jerusalem was once a tourist attraction because of its rich history. Today, apart from its historic treasures the city also offers modern tourism.” Elkin said. “The inauguration of [this] tunnel is another aspect of the growth of the city of Jerusalem as well as its development into a dazzling tourist city for all types of audiences in Israel as well as around the globe.”

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line from the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek The Sorek Tunnel is located just west of the city. It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel. It includes the fifth water line, which connects to Jerusalem of the Mekorot water company.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood that includes a biblical aquarium and zoo, and also the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
