The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It is located in southern Israel within Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

Elkin’s Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 for the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin declared that the Kerem Tunnel project was a crucial element in achieving the goal of shifting the idea of transportation throughout Jerusalem. Elkin stated that the new tunnel is connected to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will link with existing bike routes. It will also be paved throughout the various areas. This will increase cycling and encourage green transportation in the capital.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to transfer its main sewer line towards Sorek’s purification plant.

Current projects include road construction, installation blowers, and sophisticated safety systems to ensure that the tunnel is secure for everyone to use throughout the year.
