The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel in Israel and was opened as a part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital.
The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance located in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’evElkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. נווה פריצקי Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon Chairman of Gihon and a plethora of other cyclists were also present.

Elkin’s ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is now being utilized as an infrastructure tunnel which also includes the fifth line of water to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.
