As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The southern entrance of the tunnel is below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

Elkin stressed, “The Kerem Tunnel project is a key instrument for realizing our vision to change the notion of transportation in Jerusalem.” נווה פריצקי Elkin stated that the new tunnel connects to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will connect with existing bike routes. It will also be paved in its various neighborhoods. This will increase cycling and encourage green transport in Jerusalem.
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to transfer the main sewer line toward the Sorek purification plant.

The current works include road construction, installation of blowers as well as modern electrical and safety systems, to ensure the tunnel is safe for the public to pass through all year round.
