The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. נווה פריצקי Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

The project was funded by the Elkin’s department and the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was completed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
“The Kerem Tunnel project is a central tool for realizing the goal to alter the notion of transportation in Jerusalem,” Elkin stressed. “The new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. It will be connected to the many cycling routes that exist in the city. The paths will be paved throughout the city’s diverse areas. The objective is to promote cycling among the residents of the city.
The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line from the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek The Sorek Tunnel is located to the west of the city. It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel. It also houses the fifth water line, which connects to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water company.
