The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle path surrounds Jerusalem.
The tunnel links the paths between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

Elkin’s Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million to the project. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the goal to transform the idea of transport throughout Jerusalem. Elkin stated that the new tunnel is connected with the Jerusalem Ring Path and will connect with existing bike paths. The tunnel will also be paved throughout its various neighborhoods. This will help cyclists and promote green transport in Jerusalem.
The Kerem Tunnel was originally excavated in 1990 in order to transfer the main sewers of Gihon Corporation towards the Sorek purification facility. This plant is located west of Sorek and is still used as an infrastructure tunnel.
