The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of an extensive cycle path that runs through the capital.

The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was officially opened by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company Chairman, and hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin’s ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.

The Kerem Tunnel provides access to special recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the biblical aquarium and zoo as well the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
