The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was inaugurated as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, the capital city.
The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was officially opened on Thursday, by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’evElkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon Chairman of Gihon as well as a multitude of cyclists were also present.
