In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Kerem junction.
The opening ceremony of the tunnel that is 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion and Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

The current works include road construction, installation blowers, and advanced safety equipment to ensure the tunnel is safe for all to use during the entire year.
The Kerem Tunnel provides access to exclusive recreation spots, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as well as the natural springs of historical significance Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
