Elkin’s Ministry Elkin’s Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.
“The Kerem Tunnel project is a central tool for realizing the goal to change the concept of transportation across Jerusalem,” Elkin stressed. Elkin stated that the new tunnel will connect with the Jerusalem Ring Path and will link with existing bike trails. It will also be paved throughout its different areas. The tunnel will be a great way to increase cycling and encourage green transport in Jerusalem.
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to transfer the main sewer line toward Sorek’s purification plant.
