The tunnel runs through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza path. The southern entrance is in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. נווה פריצקי The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated in a ceremony on Thursday attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov, and a slew of cyclists.
Jerusalem’s rich past was the main reason that it was the most visited tourist destination during the time of its glory. Nowadays, aside from its rich history, it also incorporates modern-day tourism.” Elkin said. “The launch of the tunnel project is a further part of the expansion of Jerusalem’s city Jerusalem and its transformation into a desirable tourist city for all types of audiences throughout Israel and around the globe.”

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate a main sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is now being used as an infrastructure Tunnel which includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.
