The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel is now open in the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital city.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel was officially opened during a celebration on Thursday attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’evElkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov and hundreds of cyclists.

The project was funded by the Elkin’s Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
