The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by all.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.

The opening ceremony of the tunnel which measures 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 90s to move a main sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel which includes the fifth waterline that runs to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.

Road construction, installation and testing of safety and electrical systems are some of the ongoing works to ensure that the tunnel is secure throughout the year.
The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation spots – including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo and aquarium and the historical natural springs in Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
