The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that is to be enjoyed by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, is inaugurated as part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.
The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance located in Refaim Park. נווה פריצקי נווה פריצקי Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel was officially opened during a celebration on Thursday , attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov and hundreds of cyclists.

Nowadays, aside from its historical treasures the city also offers modern-day tourism,” Elkin said. “The launch of the tunnel project is another element of the progress of Jerusalem and it’s transformation into an attractive tourist destination for all types across Israel and around the world.

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the early 1990s in order to shift the main sewer line from the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek The Sorek Tunnel is located west of the city and is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel that also includes the fifth water line that connects to Jerusalem of the Mekorot water company.

The current works include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced security and electrical systems to make the tunnel safe for people to walk through at all times of the year.
Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel allows for access to exclusive recreation areas like Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which has a Biblical aquarium and zoo and ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
