The Kerem Tunnel is a great place to ride and hike.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bicycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was opened as a part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital.

Around NIS 25 million were invested in the project. It was budgeted by the Elkin’s Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, as well as the work done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

In the late 1990s In the 90s, the Kerem Tunnel was excavated to relocate the main sewer line from Gihon Corporation to the Sorek purification plant. It is now used as an infrastructure tunnel. It houses the fifth water line to Jerusalem by the Mekorot water company.

Construction of roads, the installation and testing of safety and electrical systems are some of the ongoing efforts to ensure that the tunnel is secure for all seasons.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to special recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the biblical aquarium and zoo , as well the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
