נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle route is located around Jerusalem.
The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance can be found in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem about half an hour away from the Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated during a celebration on Thursday , attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov, and a slew of cyclists.
Jerusalem was once a popular tourist attraction because of its rich past. Elkin stated that the current tourism industry is one of Jerusalem’s treasures from the past and is also a part of modern-day tourism. “The launch of the tunnel is an additional aspect of the development Jerusalem and its transformation to an attractive tourist destination for all types in Israel and the world.
נווה פריצקי Elkin who, through his ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, stated that the Jerusalem Municipality’s ministry “invests hundreds to millions of shekels each year to develop all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism and the development and operation of exciting attractions, ventures and attractions which connect the rich past of our eternal city to the future”.
